Generally, during Pilates workouts, you can burn between 170–370 depending on the exercises performed, whereas with a yoga workout, the likelihood of calorie burn is around 140–250 calories. Either way, they are both excellent workouts that will both improve flexibility and achieve the correct muscle tone in the process.
However, if you are specifically looking to improve your abdominal muscles, Pilates is an excellent option.
Pilates will work the entire body without any rapid or powerful movements that can injure you and due to its low impact nature, this is one of the strong reasons why it is an excellent form of exercise for both young and elderly.
The center of a Pilates workout is working on your abdominal muscles and your buttocks because it makes a person stronger from inside to outside, making it a key feature.
Pilates includes flexibility and strength, where it provides an excellent workout for all the various muscle groups, allowing you to have a much stronger body and leaner appearance.
Pilates workouts and yoga sessions can both positively impact your body. If done properly, I cannot see any negative effect for any type of exercise.
Regarding some similarities, they both, however, make you feel well, which can only be a good thing. Both of them also do not involve any jerk-like movements or any other type of vigorous movements.
Each form of exercise workout will strengthen your muscles as well as give you a feeling of peace and well-being. Although each has its own distinctiveness as noted above.
From a visual standpoint, you will see the result that you are doing Pilates with yoga, which can take longer, although they are equally good for you.
